Project Overview

The Baltic Power offshore wind farm stands as a pivotal component in the ORLEN Group’s transformation and a significant milestone in the advancement of the Polish power industry. Scheduled to commence construction in 2024, this offshore wind farm has a capacity of up to 1.2 GW and aims to eventually power over 1.5 million households in Poland.

Smulders will supply Baltic Power) 76 transition pieces for the ground breaking Wind Farm, marking a significant milestone in the Polish offshore wind industry.

OES Group worked with the owner and principal designer Jörss – Blunck – Ordemann | JBO for from an early stage in the design and development of the corrosion protection strategy for the project and were selected as the material supplier for the projects Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) System to protect the foundations from corrosion.

The Baltic Sea poses major challenges for Cathodic Protection systems with low salinity levels reducing the influence of the CP systems, this making galvanic anodes extremely ineffective. ICCP still is challenged and ICCP anode placement throughout the structure is required to spread protection levels, OES Groups  innovative anode cage solution was chosen to protect the foundations coupled with traditional TP mounted ICCP anodes. Internally the system uses elongated TiMMO tube anodes for lifetime protection of the XXL MP’s.
