Arcadis
Ost 1
Project overview
Positioned in the Baltic Sea, approximately 19 km off Rügen Island in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Arcadis Ost I is one of the latest editions to Parkwinds offshore wind farm portfolio as a market leader in renewable energy. Covering an expanse of 29 km², the wind farm’s turbines collectively generate 257 megawatts, contributing to Germany’s burgeoning offshore energy sector and supplying sustainable energy to power around 290,000 households.
Contracted by the projects EPCI and leading offshore renewable energy installation contractor DEME, OES were tasked to assist in the design and supply a corrosion protection system suitable for protecting the projects XXL Monopile and Transition piece foundations. Due to the challenging environment and high-water resistivity the ICCP system required ICCP anodes evenly distributed to offer optimum protection levels. OES together with the project team delivered the world’s first ICCP anode ring system. The ICCP anode ring was designed with specialist cable storage and a cable protection system to bring inside the ICCP and reference electrode cables allowing even distribution throughout the monopile.
The ICCP ring proved a pivotal point in the protection of Offshore Mono pile structures which offer significant technical and commercial benefits comparing traditional Galvanic Anode cages saving owners tens of millions on projects through reduced secondary steel and T and I.
