Project Overview
Scottish Powers East Anglia 3 (EA3) project showcases an offshore wind farm located approximately 69km off the Suffolk coast. The: Offshore Wind Farm covers around 305km2, hosting 95 offshore wind turbines with their respective foundations. The project will supply approximately 1 million homes with green electricity.
OES Group were contracted by Windar to Design and Supply an internal ICCP system for the various locations ranging from 7 to 8 ICCP TiMMO tube anodes depending on the clustering.
The internal ICCP system has offered a more environmentally friendly solution to the alternative Zinc galvanic anode strings which would have required in excess of 300 tonnes to protect the internal monopile for the lifetime of the project. Instead OES group have offered a sustainable solution for protection with around 1Kg of mixed metal oxide.
Additionally opting for an ICCP system internally in preference to a Galvanic Anode system reduces offshore install timings by 75%.
